Moving Forward with Peace and Hope

Many of you have been following the blog long enough that you know that in August 2014 we lost our son, Hank. Since that time, I’ve occasionally blogged on topics like contentment and gratefulness that have been on my heart and the forefront of my mind as my family and I work and learn through our loss.

Yesterday we took a big step and launched The Hank Sasser Foundation, which will focus on supporting two of Hank’s most treasured passions, aviation and leadership. While we are passionate about keeping Hank’s legacy going, we are just as passionate about witnessing and sharing what the foundation will do for others. God does not allow adversity without purpose, and we are starting to see a direction in how our tragedy can be a catalyst for helping others. The Hank Sasser Foundation will be the platform to serve and impact those who will keep it going.

To those of you who have followed our story and prayed for our family, thank you. We are grateful for this opportunity to fill our gap by helping others, think beyond Hank and toward those his life is supposed to impact, and move forward at a pace that is strong during any season. We have learned over the past 22 months that it’s not just time that heals, but it’s also peace and hope. Peace is in the present, but hope is in the future.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
